about

This is a recording made in Berlin at the studio of the Musikinstrumentenmuseum in Berlin, a few months before my emigration to Australia in July 1989. '
Tibetan Dixie' was formed to play compositions of mine, based on my 'rhythmologic' concept (a nod of sorts to Ornette Coleman; also see the track 'Oh, Nett').
The original ensemble with Gebhard Ullmann, Christof Griese, Joachim Litty, Martin Lillich and myself started performing in 1988 and played mostly in Berlin.
From memory we recorded the quintet takes first and then overdubbed the brass players on selected tracks.
For Track Notes see individual tracks.

This download also contains historical documents as well as selected original and revised charts.
